sparrow story - IN A PEACE

Sparrow Story

For a long time, fear had a stronghold on me. My mind used to go into the future and anticipate something bad may happen.

Specifically, it had to do with abandonment that my loved ones may not be around, and I will be alone later. And often, when I was extremely anxious, God reminded me of the sparrow parable. "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." (Matthew 10:29 & 31)

Then this happened soon after. My husband took me to the Chiang Mai University campus for a jog when we used to live in Thailand sometime in 2018. Toward the end of our jog, we saw a sparrow on the ground. I noticed that it didn't fly away when we got closer to this little fellow. Usually, birds fly away when you get closer. It turned out that this sparrow couldn't fly because it was injured. We were concerned about leaving this little guy there on the ground since the university campus had stray dogs. There were no trees nearby where we could put the bird on a tree- only concrete buildings. So we decided to take it home and figure out what to do after.

Sadly, once we got home, the sparrow crossed the rainbow bridge two hours later. Although it didn't make it, it made me think that the sparrow spent the last moment in safety at two human's house who wanted to ensure it would be in good care. Likewise, I knew that God was using this situation of a fallen sparrow to remind me not to be afraid and that He will take care of me when the future comes.

So it inspired me to create this dainty sparrow bird necklace as a reminder that Father God will always take care of me. As the little sparrow I held in my hand was weak and not well, I made this piece look fluffy, healthy, and happy.
