I got scammed and this is how God blessed me
There is a well-known person who won the 1st place in a talent show as a vocalist in Korea. His video went viral globally on Youtube because of his unique background and his vocal talent. He supposedly had a tough life on so many different levels. Then years later, he announced on his social media account that he was getting treatments for various cancers. My heart went out to him because I had lost someone important to cancer just two years prior. I imagined that it must've been a very difficult journey that he was on. He accepted donations for the treatments as the expenses were supposedly piling up. Gladly, I was willing to contribute a bit financially.
Then on the same day, I was offered a short-term gig. Surprisingly, the pay was the same amount as my financial contribution to the vocalist per hour. I ended up working 60 hours and was grateful for this opportunity. I even made another contribution by the same amount a month after.
Several months later, I found out something shocking. This vocalist made up the whole story about his illnesses. Everything was a lie. Even his hospital gown was purchased to make his story look authentic. He also drafted poorly written medical records to support his case, but his lies got exposed publicly. He scammed thousands of people to extort money, and I was one of them.
I was furious, disappointed, and felt cheated. Well, I did get cheated. As I was processing my anger towards the fraud, God softened my heart to forgive him. Even before I learned I got scammed, God saw my heart and blessed me even more. The same day I made the contribution, God repaid me immediately and blessed me 30 times based on the amount I gave.
Then I was able to release my anger, and God reminded me of these verses:
"That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers." (Psalm 1:3)
Indeed, it didn't matter if I got scammed because God used this situation to prosper me anyway.
